Profiles of 2007 Graduates
Lynsey Denholm – Sales and Marketing, Irish Life
Retail
My name is Lynsey Denholm and I joined Irish Life &
Permanent in July 2007 with a 2:1 degree in Computer Science from
Strathclyde University in Glasgow.Since I joined the Group I have
been working in Sales Support and Marketing for Irish Life Retail
Direct Business Channel.
My general duties include supporting the sales consultants by
providing them with analysis of recent campaigns and information to
be used in upcoming campaigns as well as having input into the
Marketing campaigns that we are using nationally.
This has been a great learning curve for me as when I joined I
had limited experience in the Sales and Marketing business area,
coming from an IT background. However, I have been able to
integrate my IT skills with new skills learned in tasks such as
producing database analysis on customer, sale and product
information. I have also been involved in the rollout for a new POS
system for our consultants and involved in the testing of our new
Wealth Management System which is part of the new Wealth Management
Unit, this has been an exciting and interesting task.
In my first few months here at Irish Life I was also involved in
organising a National Conference for the Direct Business channel.
This involved organising presentations, the venue and the structure
of the day in order to satisfy 300 people. This was a challenging
task but an enjoyable one and I was delighted to have the
opportunity to be involved in it.
The team that I work in have welcomed me to the business and
continue to support me in any task that I undertake.
I chose to join Irish Life & Permanent as the Access
Graduate Development Programme offered me exposure to different
areas of the business separate to my background. I have enjoyed the
exposure but also being able to relate the skills I learned at
university to the new job that I am in.
Thomas O'Reilly – permanent tsb
Retail
My name is Thomas O'Reilly and I joined Irish Life &
Permanent in July 2007 having completed a Bachelor of Commerce
(Hons) in NUI Galway in 2006 and the first year of the Masters of
Business Studies in Electronic Commerce also in NUI Galway. I am
writing my thesis this year and I hope to write it on a Project or
Scheme undertaken by IL+P.
On the Access Graduate Development Programme I have gained
exposure to all aspects of Retail Banking in Permanent TSB,
including Mortgages, General Insurance, Customer Service,
Bankassurance (Savings and Investments) and General Management. I
have found the workplace environment in PTSB to be one of
friendliness, support and professionalism. I have worked in these
different areas of the bank meeting customers and learning how the
different aspects of the business work and I am presently working
on an Area Project to further enhance Business Practices and
Customer Service for implementation in all branches in the Dublin
area, which involved working closely with the Area Manager and the
Area Team. As a Graduate in the Access Programme you will be given
continuous support and will be able to gain from the many avenues
of further learning that will be provided for you throughout your
career with PTSB.
I have not only found the work experience invaluable, but extra
curricular activities are supported and an onsite gym and swimming
pool are provided for all employees.
The Access Graduate Development Programme is meeting and
exceeding my expectations for a career in the Financial Services
sector and has provided me, as a graduate, with an exceptional
start to my career.
